(When a missionary becomes a Trainer, they call their new companion their "son".)
I'M HAVING A SON.
So this week was the last week of the transfer which means that training is over. We got transfer news on Saturday and I found out that I will be training a new missionary and so will Elder Guymon. So both our trainers, Elder LaHue and Moore will be leaving to be zone leaders in other zones. I'm also going to be district leader in place of Elder LaHue. He will be a zone leader in Bloemfontein which is where he was trained so he already knows the area which is cool. I'm super excited but also really nervous mostly because I'm still pretty inexperienced and there was a lot of trust put in me. I also might end up being the designated driver which seems a bit more precarious after what happened on Tuesday...
We got in a wreck. We signaled and went to turn left as some crazy honda fit driver overtook us and clipped our front end. We were fine but our bake
(truck) had the front bumber torn up and headlight popped out. The honda fit was in much worse condition though. We've had to run around filling out reports, getting repair estimates, and talking to the police this week but it actually went really quick and smoothly (considering we are in Lesotho that's pretty miraculous) and I think it's because God wants us to get back to the important work... missionary work.
We also had a talent show for the church branches in our area. There was a lot of dancing, singing, rapping, and they even had a watermelon eating contest. Brother Mphethe the second counselor in our branch did this funny thing where he said stuff super fast in Sotho like a soccer announcer and it got everybody really excited.
The last thing this week was Mabela's baptism. We started teaching him right at the beginning of the transfer and he learned quickly and he was really devoted and he's been changing his life ever since. This guy is 15 years old and he inspires me. To get to church he either walks 2 hours or pays for a taxi and we see him there every week. He is going to be a strong faithful member of the church and he even says he wants to serve a mission. The baptism went really well and his whole family and a bunch of members were there.
Things are happening here in Lesotho and I'll probably be here another 3 months for training. Next week you'll get to hear about my son.
Elder Hinnen
